PHOEBRUARY: Wrapped
Phoebe is a well known celebrity, not just for her super-agent public persona as "Phlex" but also as a TV talk show host! On her show, "Long Talks With Phoebe", she is well known for promoting Canadian coffee shop chain Jim Thortons, and makes a point to offer her guests a box of their bonbons, called "Jimbits" as both a gesture of hospitality, and also an an excuse for Phoebe to eat some herself! On certain occasions, she will also be present for a kind of "meet and greet" at a Jim Thortons (sometimes just called "Jim's" for short by the locals) location, both to give herself a chance to meet her fans and also to promote the brand! The PR people for Jim Thortons don't mind her stunts, even when she's "around" the building like in this piece. She provides an unusual but positive presence, something to make the patrons' morning a bit more interesting! What Phoebe won't tell them is that the yellow part stretched just above the main entrance is actually her butt - it's completely unrecognizable, so what they don't know won't hurt them!
This is probably my most ambitious drawing to date, and I am quite proud of it! I wanted to practice drawing Phoebe interacting with objects to get a feel for her texture, and I also wanted to show her really stretch out, so I figured she could wrap around a building, and I thought it would be funny to have it be a coffee shop, specifically the first Tim Hortons, recently renovated. But then I also figured I could practice drawing buildings, and with my recent inking practice, I wanted to try inking this one to see if I could do it, and then I ALSO wanted to show Phoebe's tendency to go translucent when she stretches really far, and um, yeah. You can see how it kinda spiraled, but I was up to the challenge!
